Lion’s Den is a sound system from Berlin founded by the musical activist Ras Lion (selekta / operator / engineer). Mostly joined on lyrical duties by the multilingual MCs/singers Kali Green and KonTa or guests.
A fine selection of records, tuff dubs and conscious lyrics, some heavyweight speakerboxes and amplifiers and a deep love for the music combined provide for positive vibes and a special experience at any session near or far.
Always on a musical mission, Lion’s Den works with various vocalists, musicians and producers from all over the world – with the focus on connecting different people, different influences and inspiration, merging creative energies.
Lion’s Den is also a label, a studio and a production and promotion force.

AFRIKAN SIMBA [London, UK]
Hailing from Nigeria, award winning reggae artist Afrikan Simba is one of the leading roots MC’s in London, having worked with top sound systems such as Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti and Channel One. He has also recorded with the likes of Reality Shock, Jah Warrior, Zion Train, Dub Judah & and runs his own record label ‘Ayamba’ based in Jamaica. Whenever he takes up the mic, whether live or in the studio, a flow of conscious, spiritual and uplifting lyrics are guaranteed.
In addition to being a busy artist, Afrikan Simba also runs a shop in London called ‘Drum Beat’ selling African & Caribbean garments, music & merchandise (639 High Road Leyton, Leyton E10 6RF). He also hosts his own radio show on Voice of Africa Radio (94 FM in London and www.voiceofafricaradio.com) & organises an annual Reggae event every January in London called Goodly Words. Longfingah is one of Germanys premier reggae MCs. Over the past years he chanted his energetic style through the speakers of many club and festival stages across Europe and beyond, like Rototom Sunsplash (ES), Fusion, Reggaejam, Summerjam (GER), Uprising (SK), Boomtown (UK) & many more. Recently he toured Mexico, India and Japan with the Berlin based reggae-electronic band Illbilly Hitec. In the meantime Longfingah also produced a huge list of CD and vinyl releases, for example collaborations with Mungos Hifi, Dubmatix and Zion Train´s Neil Perch, to name a few. Currently he is releasing his 4th album “Urban Mystic” on the Berlin based label GuerillJah Productions.
Now he‘s on stage with his new formed Live Dub Band „Sub Pressure Band“, which is staffed by well known reggae musicians of the Berlin scene, as Lukas Leonhardt (Wood In Di Fire/The Special Guests) on drums, Hardy Digital (GuerillJah) on bass, Geoffrey (Brass, Wood & Wires) on guitars and David (Jahcoustix/Darai) on keys. By special interest, Longfingah is also available for a Soundsystem Showcase, regularly backed by GuerillJah´s DJ & Producer Hardy Digital.

JAH LOVE SOUNDSYSTEM

The project consists of two main pillars. The first one is a collective of selectors, who love the sound of vinyl and a throbbing bass. The second – hand-made loudspeakers, which, together with high power amplifiers and hundreds meters of wire, give the possibility to play DUB music wherever there is an audience enjoying low frequencies. Through the heavy, bass sound, a conscious message and the idea of self-organization go out into the world. The project dates back to 2009 and the cyclic events in Independent Center of Culture c5 (Niezależne Centrum Kultury c5) in Warsaw. Space in an abandoned chips factory provided means for development and pushed young people to build their first loudspeakers. Parties organized there became a part and parcel of Warsaw reggae scene, not only because of the music quality, but also thanks to the unique climate on the squat. That period influenced considerably the development of the whole group; that’s when they realized that that they prefer to organize the party from the beginning to the end all by themselves. For now on, JAH LOVE SOUNDSYSTEM is closely connected to the Squat Przychodnia (Przychodnia Skłot) and that’s where they organize their sessions.
